About Us

Psaltiki is a nonprofit organization, tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3), Tax ID # 20-8541253, based in Orlando, Florida. Psaltiki’s purpose is to provide educational services oriented to the promotion and advancement of the Byzantine Chant, the sacred music of the Eastern Orthodox Churches. This includes cultivating a knowledgeable appreciation for all aspects of this cultural heritage, including hymnology, typikon, musicology and its academic study, always with a focus on its practical perpetuation. This mission will be realized via a suite of projects and activities, including publications, exhibits, conferences and educational communication initiatives based on an axis of grass-roots needs, as well as forward-looking development. In short, Psaltiki is dedicated to supporting and cultivating excellence in the Byzantine chant art form, bringing the art form to America, and providing leadership and innovation to chant education.

Psaltiki is dedicated to educating, empowering, and connecting the next generation of chanters in America! We dedicated to enriching and informing the present environment of psaltic culture in America in order to enhance and cultivate a spirit of excellence worthy of this great musical inheritance and the spiritual benefits it provides to liturgical life, the arts and beyond.

All projects are geared toward the advancement of the Psaltic Art, its appreciation, understanding, preservation and perpetuation by focusing on at least one of the following core areas:

  1. Education
  2. Visibility
  3. Psaltic Community

Established in the year 2007 and receiving 501c3 classification in 2008, Psaltiki, Inc. is presently in its plenary first phase. In this phase the organization looks toward foundational development and strategic planning. Psaltiki is studying the prospects of providing educational services through the following programs and vehicles: website, seminars, conferences, workshops, recordings, publications, polls, printed articles, electronic publications, museum events, recitals and performances, offering opportunity to expand the psaltic community with those traditional, well-established artists and scholars in the old world, where the art form is still a living, dynamic tradition.

Psaltiki relies on volunteers and donations of money, materials and services to create and conduct its projects.

In the process of facilitating psaltic community, we look forward to being an axis around which chanters, students, scholars and those interested in the art form can gather to create a network of individuals and groups dedicated to the Psaltiki, Inc. mission, willing to support ongoing projects and new initiatives through collaborative marketing, communications efforts and financial contributions.

Individuals or organizations can support Psaltiki in many ways, including the following:

  1. Donating cash, technology or services,
  2. Spreading the word about Psaltiki and
  3. Supporting its projects by participation, collaboration and feedback.
